Knitting by Request

I had previously knit a doll for Mini Meerkat from Spud & ChloĆ« at the Farm by Susan B. Anderson. (The pattern for just the doll can be purchased here.) The first doll I knit is a redhead, and Mini Meerkat recently asked me to make one that looks more like her. I like the pattern for the doll, but I wanted to make the face and hair look more like a Waldorf style doll. I totally covet all the Waldorf dolls on Etsy, but they are out of my budget!

I was easily able to simplify the embroidery for the face, but the hair took longer to work out. Mini Meerkat has quite a bit of hair herself, so I wanted to go big. Sewing in the wig took the longest, and I made it longer and trimmed it down once I was done. Mini Meerkat was thrilled with the final result.

For now both dolls are sharing that pink dress, but all of Mini Meerkat's dolls end up naked anyway!

Mini Meerkat also decided that her lobster was cold and needed a hand knit sweater fast! Half way through, I was informed that the lobster needed a hood to keep his head warm too. I came up with this on the fly, and the lobster has been snuggly warm ever since.

(And don't forget to check out my Sheepish Lap Blanket pattern for sale on Ravelry!)

    1. Thanks! I was really proud of this one. I need to make another for a family friend, but I'm waiting until we don't have flu germs anymore!
